Summer Flings and Traditional Chinese Medicine
If you were thinking about running around the city half naked with a thong and lingerie (does everyone know that guy? UES celebrity), this is the time to do it. Summer is the time for getting out there and having flings. Go talk to the guy with tattoos and a nose ring with a chain wallet who also, of course, is an acupuncturist. Go meet the girl with ripped jeans not covering anything and a top that lets the world know what’s going on underneath. This isn’t the time to be shy. Put yourself out there and follow Chinese medicine theory.
Don’t date the librarian (unless it's that type of librarian) but date the alligator trainer who in her spare time is a mermaid at a bar and can do shots, drink beer and do a bong hit at the same time. I remember during my younger years when December rolled around and I didn’t have a girlfriend. I knew it was going to be a long, sad, lonely, no-action winter. Summer is the opposite! Your time is now.
These days in New York there’s rain and more rain. Some days I don’t think it will really get warm in New York but it’s on its way, along with summer flings, fresh, ripe fruit and long summer days. We aren’t going to talk about spring because that doesn’t really exist in New York. We’re talking about summer.
Let’s Talk Summer
We’re talking about peak Yang! The season relates to the heart and small intestine organ. Think joy, social interactions, heat, energy and movement (of all limbs and ORGANS).
Food is super fun during the summer. Eat what’s in season, focus on lighter meals and stay away from hot and spicy foods. Eat watermelon, blueberries, strawberries and melons. Think about hydrating and cooling down the system. Fluids and more fluids.
Be one with nature! Take a hike, take a walk, ride a mountain bike, jump in the water. Create inner peace. Take up meditation and acupuncture. Sleep, go to bed a little later and wake up with the sun. This is the time to be a kid again. Live it up and enjoy every day of the season.
